In response to requests from AMO engineers, STAR Center has developed a five-day Advanced Maintenance and Repair (Professional Development) course. This will be added to STAR Center’s regular course schedule, with the first class to convene on campus in Dania Beach August 10.
The five-day Advanced Maintenance and Repair Professional Development course is designed for experienced maintenance professionals ready to elevate their expertise. While performing intensive hands-on labs that simulate real-world industrial challenges, students will master cutting-edge predictive maintenance techniques, including:
- Vibration analysis
- Thermographic imagery
- Oil analysis
- Precision shaft alignment (both dual dial indicator and laser methods), and
- Innovative 3D printing/scanning for rapid part replacement.
Over the course of the week, attendees disassemble, inspect, repair, align, and reassemble centrifugal pumps using modern predictive tools to diagnose and correct issues on the spot. The program then advances to comprehensive inspections of refrigeration compressors, Framo cargo pumps, and EMD/Volvo engines.
As the newest addition to STAR Center’s acclaimed lineup of professional development courses, including Electrical and Instrumentation, Control System Troubleshooting, Welding, Machine Shop, PLC Controllers, Refrigeration, and Hydraulics, the Advanced Maintenance and Repair course delivers unmatched skill development that directly translates to reduced downtime, extended asset life, and superior reliability in demanding maritime and industrial environments. This latest offering underscores STAR Center’s ongoing commitment to providing AMO members with the most advanced, practical training available.
