The USNS 2nd Lt. John P. Bobo was transferred to U.S. Maritime Administration for deep lay up on November 1. Originally placed into service with the United States Navy in 1985, the vessel is named after U.S. Marine Medal of Honor recipient Second Lieutenant John P. Bobo. As part of Military Sealift Command’s Maritime Prepositioning Force, the USNS Bobo was a critical staging and transportation asset for U.S. military forces around the globe. American Maritime Officers has manned the Bobo in all licensed positions since it was commissioned.
The final AMO crew aboard the Bobo, here during turnover in November in Norfolk, included Second Mate Eric Martin, First Assistant Engineer Henry Hersey, Third A.E. Trevor Richards, Second A.E. David Burkhardt, Chief Mate John Parrinello, Master George W. Hynes, and Chief engineers Steve Gustafson and Bryan Hoffmann.
