American Maritime Officers West Coast Representative Alex Butler visited the Cal Poly Maritime Academy Training Ship Golden Bear just before its final voyage as a training ship on May 7, here docked at Mare Island. Many AMO members recall sailing and learning onboard this vessel, and future AMO members will be trained on a brand new NSMV being built for Cal Poly Maritime by the Maritime Administration (MARAD). Butler gave away some sunglasses as a parting gift for cadets taking the last trip on the TS Golden Bear.
