STAR Center provides MEECE training as one of the courses required by engineers prior to sitting for their U.S. Coast Guard STCW raise of grade to First Assistant Engineer/Second Engineering Officer. The training has been offered both in-person at STAR Center and online.
The U.S. Coast Guard’s National Maritime Center has amended their interpretation of policies and procedures such that it will no longer be possible to offer this course online. Accordingly, the final online MEECE class will be October 20-24, 2025. After this date MEECE training will only be offered in-person at STAR Center.
STAR Center will schedule sufficient MEECE classes each year to meet AMO engineers’ demand.
