USNS Brittin officers, crew commended for service in Native Fury

The following message was sent May 20 by then Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. Fifth Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces Vice Adm. Jim Malloy.

Captain Maghrabi, my sincere appreciation to you and the crew of USNS Brittin for your outstanding performance while operating in the CENTCOM AOR from February to May 2020. Your performance in this high OPTEMPO environment was instrumental to the success of Fifth Fleet logistics operations.

I want to specifically commend the seamanship, adaptability and professionalism you demonstrated in the continuously changing operational environment of exercise Native Fury. Your efforts provided necessary sealift to Fifth Fleet and CENTCOM forces, directly resulting in the success of this strategically important large exercise.

USNS Brittin's flexibility was paramount in successfully supporting Exercise Native Fury while implementing unprecedented mitigations to reduce the risk associated with COVID-19. Your attention to detail, dedication to duty, and vigilant focus on mission success enabled USNS Brittin to meet all operational commitments.

As you continue your journey toward new challenges, please take with you my best wishes and sincere appreciation for a job well done. We look forward to your return in the future. Until then, fair winds and following seas.
