American Maritime Officers - Seafarers International Union of North America Affiliation Agreement
In the interest of transparency, and to address inquiries from American Maritime Officers members regarding the exact nature of the affiliation of AMO and the Seafarers International Union of North America, we are publishing the complete signed agreement from 2003 here. As an affiliate of the SIU, AMO obtained a charter securing recognition from the AFL-CIO. This would not have been possible had AMO remained an unaffiliated, independent union. As you will read, our affiliation is not a merger, nor does it require AMO to sacrifice autonomy.Tom Bethel
