American Maritime Officers will host additional informational area membership meetings in the ports of San Francisco/Oakland and Tacoma next month.
The meeting in San Francisco/Oakland will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the Pacific Room (Building 4) at the Hilton Oakland Airport at 1 Hegenberger Road in Oakland. The hotel's telephone number is (510) 635-5000.
The membership meeting in Tacoma will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the South Center Room at the Sheraton Tacoma Hotel at 13230 Broadway in Tacoma. The hotel's telephone number is (253) 572-3200.
AMO National President Tom Bethel will chair each meeting, and AMO National Secretary-Treasurer Josˇ Leonard and AMO National Assistant Vice President At Large Bob Kiefer will make presentations. Other AMO officials may be in attendance at each meeting.
AMO Plans Executive Director Steve Nickerson, Citigroup/Smith Barney Vice President Larry Goldstock and attorney Michael Reny will also participate in the meetings. Nickerson will report on developments in the AMO Pension, Medical, Vacation and Safety and Education Plans, Goldstock will discuss his firm's management of the AMO 401(k) Plan and the AMO Pension Plan Money Purchase Benefit, and Reny will explain the newly expanded AMO Coast Guard Legal Aid Program.
"I urge every AMO member living or working in the San Francisco/Oakland and Tacoma areas to attend these meetings," Bethel said. "The agenda each time will be wide open, and time will be set aside each night for questions from the floor -- no question will go unanswered."
The AMO informational area membership meetings in San Francisco/Oakland and Tacoma will follow meetings held in Houston, New Orleans, Portsmouth (Norfolk) and Baltimore.
"We will schedule more of these meetings whenever possible and practical," Bethel said. "We are considering locations in the Northeast, and we intend to cover every region routinely as part of my policy of bringing meetings to AMO members who cannot easily attend meetings in the Constitutional ports of Dania Beach, Toledo and Brooklyn."
