No valid reason to place MV Saturn under foreign registry, cut jobs for U.S. mariners
American Maritime Officers, the Seafarers International Union and the International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots are fighting the effort to re-flag the MV Saturn, operated on the Great Lakes by Cleveland Tankers.
Three seagoing unions Aug. 23 urged the Maritime Administration to block the flag-out of a Great Lakes tanker to a foreign registry.
