AMO establishes 'Integrity Line' for elected officers, union representatives and staff members
American Maritime Officers has established a toll-free, confidential and anonymous "Integrity Line" through which AMO officials, representatives and employees can report unethical or inappropriate behavior by their colleagues.

The AMO Compliance and Efficiency Committee established the Integrity Line to ensure strict conformity with the union's official ethics, travel, equal rights and sexual harassment policies. AMO National Secretary-Treasurer Josˇ Leonard chaired the committee, which included AMO National Executive Board Members Dan Shea and John Hafner, AMO Representative Stan Barnes and AMO Comptroller Marty Epstein.

Global Compliance Inc. operates the American Maritime Officers Integrity Line. The independent firm provides secure service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and uses no call tracing or recording devices. Anonymity is guaranteed upon request.

AMO officials, representatives and employees can call the Integrity Line to report alleged theft or fraud, substance abuse, bribery, harassment, discrimination, dishonest or inaccurate accounting, the misuse of union funds or other assets, possible conflicts of interest and threats or violence.

When an individual calls the Integrity Line, an operator with no connection to or interest in American Maritime Officers asks questions to better establish the nature of the caller's question or complaint. The operator prepares a report and forwards it to other personnel for review and possible explanation. Each case is assigned a number, and the caller is given a confidential "PIN" number and callback date to determine the status of the complaint.

The toll-free Integrity Line phone number is: (866) 447-9818.

American Maritime Officers has also retained a separate independent firm, Brightline Compliance, to provide ethics training for all AMO officials, representatives and employees.
