Capt. William Alligood, a retired member of American Maritime Officers, recently published a book, "My Lifetime on the Water," about his experience working aboard tugboats.
"I have worked aboard tugboats for over twenty-nine years, which is why I have written 'My Lifetime on the Water' to share the experiences that I have actually lived," Capt. Alligood said. "From a deckhand to a captain, I have seen it all. Some of my stories are funny, some serious, and some adventurous."
Capt. Alligood earned his master of towing license in 1980 and obtained a full-time captain's position in 1987. He worked primarily in harbor service until 1996, when he transferred to larger tractor tugs and worked on some offshore jobs. He retired in June 2006.
