As we report elsewhere in this issue, the Great Lakes Maritime Task Force-a coalition of shipping, port and labor interests, including American Maritime Officers-will pursue adequate federal funding of Great Lakes port and channel dredging to enable the U.S.-flagged Great Lakes fleet to operate at maximum efficiency. But there are other equally important legislative issues on the task force agenda, issues that matter directly to the engineers, mates and stewards AMO is privileged to represent in the lakes fleet.
