    Renewal, expansion of Maritime Security Program would spur U.S. investment in commercial shipping
    American Maritime Officers member Chief Mate George Lawson and SIU Able-Bodied Seaman Joao Cordeiro raise the U.S. flag on the stern of the Maersk Georgia as the re-flagged vessel entered service under U.S. registry. Maersk recently replaced the four containerships it had enrolled in the Maritime Security Program (MSP) with the larger G-class containerships Maersk Missouri, Maersk Georgia, Maersk Carolina and Maersk Virginia. All four vessels are enrolled in the MSP, operated by Maersk Line Limited under U.S. registry and manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers.
