    'Pitsenbarger' Christened For MSC Charter
    Red River Will Operate Replacement For 'Buffalo Soldier' Under Contract With AMO
    The mv Airman 1st Class William H. Pitsenbarger will be operated by Red River Shipping Co. and manned by American Maritime Officers in all licensed positions. The ship was renamed for Airman Pitsenbarger, a posthumous recipient of the Medal of Honor, and christened Nov. 28 in Charleston, S.C. Rear Adm. David Brewer III, commander of Military Sealift Command, accepted the ship on behalf of the Navy. Richardene Brewer, the wife of Rear Adm. Brewer, was the ship's sponsor.
    Red River Shipping Co. acquired the geared containership Therese Delmas from French owners to fill a five-year Military Sealift Command charter prepositioning ammunition and supplies for the Air Force at Diego Garcia. The ship was converted and renamed the mv Airman 1st Class WIlliam H. Pitsenbarger. Red River operates the mv Buffalo Soldier, which the Pitsenbarger will replace in the Afloat Prepositioning Force.
