The nomination period for the new limited AMO election will open with the regular monthly membership meeting Dec. 3, 2007, in Dania Beach, Fla., and close at the regular meeting in the same location Jan. 7, 2008.
Nominations for the six positions included in the limited election (national president, national secretary-treasurer, national executive vice president, national deep-sea vice president, national assistant vice president at large and national inland waters executive board member) will be open to all qualified AMO book members pursuant to Article X of the AMO National Constitution.
Independent firm True Ballot Inc. will administer the election, including balloting. However, the union will have to provide True Ballot with names and mailing addresses for all AMO book members.
AMO members should contact Karla O'Dea at AMO Member Services as soon as possible to make sure they have a current mailing address on file with the union. She can be reached by phone at (800) 362-0513 ext. 1053 or by e-mail at kodea@amo-union.org.
Under the AMO National Constitution as amended by Resolution 5, all AMO book members will receive a ballot, regardless of dues status. However, in order for a voted ballot to be counted, each member's dues will have to be current when the ballots are tallied.
