Letter from AMO member William Pimm regarding meetings of AMO Executive Board, AMO Plans Trustees
|
The following letter was received from American Maritime Officers member William Pimm, who was one of three AMO members who attended meetings of the AMO National Executive Board and AMO Plans trustees as observers the week of Oct. 15 in New York.
Brother Bethel,
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for the invitation as general observer to the Annual Board of Trustees meeting in New York City during the week of October 15, 2007.
I'm pleased to report that the meetings proved to be very informative and enlightening through the operational transparency of the present administration as well as its Board of Trustees.
After review of all AMO holdings, investments and operations I believe that you and your administration are doing a great service to the Union and its membership by protecting its assets, promoting its presence in the industry and dispelling any concerns or accusations of coercion or unscrupulous behavior in its operation.
During my past 20 years in AMO I have heard many rumors, half-truths and outright lies with regard to the operation of the AMO and its associated Medical and Pension Plans. After Attending the Board of Trustees meetings I personally feel that your administration has turned the Union around and are making huge strides to protect the sovereignty of the AMO and its membership and for this I thank you.
Once again I would like to thank you for the invitation to the Board of Trustees meetings and the opportunity to observe and evaluate the present Administration. Please pass on my best regards to your staff and Administration for a job well done.
Fraternally,
William H. Pimm
