As I said during the exercise, each and every one of you should be proud of your accomplishments during this exercise. The true sign of a professional is making a difficult evolution look easy. You completed an operation that no other country in the world could have accomplished, and you did it safely and with style. The Mississippi River paddlewheel cruise vessel 'Delta Queen' has been named Ship of the Year by the Steamship Historical Society of America. For cadets John Edwards, 19, and Candace Hancock, 20, from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in King's Point, N.Y., spending some time at sea has proven inspiration enough to consider working aboard an ocean-going ship for a living. The AMO and Seafarers International Union members aboard the 'American Cormorant' did a typically superb job during a recent Military Sealift Command cargo load-out in the United Kingdom. |
