          How effective is the AMO Voluntary Political Action Fund? Just ask The 'Wall Street Journal'. In a recent editorial, the newspaper endorsed S.1510, a bill to permit foreign-flag and foreign-built reflagged cruise ships to operate in domestic markets. The legislation was introduced Aug. 5 by Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee Chairman John McCain (R.-Az.).

  • 'Independence' To Sail Five More Years
          The famed ocean-going U.S.-flag cruise ship 'Independence' is expected to operate for at least five more years. The ship--owned by American Hawaii Cruises and manned in all licensed positions by American Maritime Officers--will enter Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard for an overhaul next January.
